These days, it seems that many trucking companies are just
numbers on the financial statements of huge corporate conglomerates.
Wall Street investment firms, insurance companies and even
railroads open and close the purse strings of their “Transportation
Group.” Ideas look good on paper but the road of life
isn’t made of paper. In 1974, when Jerry and Rich Schugel
got together with their father Harold and started J&R Schugel
Trucking, they had 15 trucks, 20 trailers and an idea. That
idea was to provide their customers with quality service at
a fair price and help their employees earn a good living. Today,
their sons Rick and Brad run more than 650 tractors, 1050 trailers
and still have that same idea.
